Previously parents were limited in their ability to take their children along for bicycle rides. Bicycle seats are for children who are at least able to sit up and then they are a bit precarious as well if you are not an expert bicycle rider. Now there are bicycle trailers which can be pulled safely behind your bike with up to two children.

There are many different brands and styles of bicycle trailers that can be pulled behind your bicycle. Most have two rear wheels while some have three total wheels. All are covered from the sun and other elements. Children can bring blankets and pillows inside and make a nice, comfortable ride for themselves.

Each of the bicycle trailers attach to your bicycle in a variety of ways, mostly with a long metal tube and a hitch that securely connects to your seat stem. Some of them come with an extra harness strap for added security.

Many of the bicycle trailers are made not only for use with the bicycles, but convert into walking strollers, snow ski strollers or jogging strollers. This multiple use trailer is one of the higher-end bicycle trailers , but well worth the additional cost for the extra uses. There are even snow ski bicycle trailer kits to be able to place skis on the bottom of the trailer so you can snow ski or skate ski or even snow shoe with your child or children in the trailer while you wear a harness and pull the trailer along behind you.

Made of a durable, breathable material, a mixture of vinyl, and tent material, the bicycle trailers can tow one or two children or up to 100 pounds of camping gear, hiking gear or whatever you need to haul with your bicycle. They also come with a thin layer of netting so that bugs stay out and your child can see the world as they travel along with you. And many of the bicycle trailers are lightweight so that you are not weighing down when you are cycling. In addition, if something were to happen to you on your bike and you do tumble, the trailer will remain upright and the children or gear will be safe.

A bicycle trailer is great for taking the smaller children to preschool or having them accompany you to the grocer for a few items. Bicycling is a great way to stay fit and taking your little ones along is more fun than doing it alone. Using your bicycle trailer to haul groceries will save you gas by not using your car, or when you go camping, you can take the bicycle trailer on the trails with hiking and camping or fishing gear so you don’t have to use a backpack.

Babies and small infants must be secured in a car seat before being placed in the bicycle trailer. Even though the trailers are stable and rarely tip over, the babies do get jostled around quite a bit and babies and infants can’t hold on or sit up like toddlers and older children can. They must be protected and a carrier or car seat is the best way to protect them from bumps.

So if you are an active parent who enjoys a leisurely bicycle ride, a bicycle trailer is a great way to combine both your love of riding and your love of your children.

I like the bowflex commercials and so forth for example. Plus the pilates gym stuff looks good and then the treadmill or cycles look good. I see them for sale everywhere! Qvc has some of the same products as advertised on the products own webpage for example. So where is the best place or store to buy equipment from? I see many at Wal-Mart, Sears, online… everywhere. I want one for strength training/toning and one for cardio. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I want to invest in something that will last and give me good results.

Heated Gloves are fantastic for winter time. A glove is a piece of garment which covers the hand and has openings or sheaths to cover each finger and the thumb. it is believed that gloves have been around for many centuries even dating back to the era of Queen Elizabeth I where a portrait of her standing with a pair of gloves in her hand can be seen.

The pair of gloves the Queen was holding had been made of leather. Ladies belonging to aristocracy in Europe especially in France and England have always worn gloves some even extending right up to the elbow. These ladies have worn gloves which are a size smaller than their hands to shrink it because it was thought that a smaller hand was fashionable then.

Gloves are available in all varieties of material like cloth, leather, wool which is knitted or felt wool, latex, rubber, nit rile or even vinyl, neoprene, metal, Kevlar, etc. The main purpose of gloves was to protect the hands from cold and to keep them warm during the harsh winter.

In recent times the glove culture has grown and evolved that there are so many different types of gloves which are used for all types of work and even in the different sports. Using gloves has its advantages like criminals never fail to use gloves when they are committing a crime as they certainly do not want to leave their fingerprints behind for the police to find them.

There are cycling gloves, fingerless gloves which are mainly used by cigarette smokers, church organists, and motorcycle riders etc who find that they are better able to maneuver with these fingerless gloves.

Though leather gloves and woolen gloves offer plenty of warmth during the winter months when the weather is extremely cold, new innovations like heated gloves have begun to hit the market. What exactly are these heated gloves?

These heated gloves keep the hands warm with battery and rechargeable gloves and mitts and these heated gloves are very ideal for trekking, walking and winter sports like snowboarding and skiing.

These Heated gloves are made of wool and they have they have batteries which keep the hands warm when turned on. The heated gloves are very useful when the temperature is extremely cold, while people pay with their play stations during the cold months and find it difficult to operate the buttons, while going for a ride on the motor cycle during winter or even while driving car.

These heated gloves help the fingers to stay warm and thus provide greater mobility in extreme cold. Heated gloves come useful to people living close to the Arctic Circle and those who go skating, skiing during the winter months.

There are also USB heated gloves which come with warm padding inside and all one has to do is to plug the gloves to the USB port and the hands become warm immediately and there are 2 levels of heating for the user to choose and adjust. And this becomes extremely useful while you play games, type or use the mouse. These heated gloves come in a single size and fit almost all hands.

I am going on vacation to the beach for 2 weeks and my non patch week falls during this vacation. I have heard that women on the pill can skip their placebo pills for the week and postpone their period if they want to and then take the placebos again when they are ready for their period. Has anyone ever tried this with the patch? I would only plan on wearing a 4th patch instead of the usual 3 and then go back to the regular cycle after my vacation.

Annually, about half a million bicycle related injuries occur. In addition, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a bicyclist is killed approximately every six hours. However, most bicycle crashes are predictable and preventable by using proper precautions on the part of both the bicyclists and motorists.

Types of Bicycle Crashes

Falls and Collisions

Over 50 percent of bike crashes are the result of falls. Falls commonly occur either when the front wheel suddenly stops moving or when the rear wheel slides out. The front wheel can stop if it falls into a road defect, such as a ***** or drain grate, or if the front brakes are applied very hard. Rear wheels can skid out when turning on gravel, sand, ice, metal surfaces, or any slippery surface.

After falls, the most frequent type of bike accidents are collisions with a stationary object, such as trees. Falls and collisions with fixed objects account for about 75 to 80 percent of all bicycle crashes.

Car-Bicycle Crashes

Car-bike crashes account for between about ten to 15 percent of bicycle accidents but result in the largest number of fatalities. Most of these accidents occur when either the bicyclist or the motorist is turning or crossing at an intersection or driveway. Other types of bike-car crashes can come about if the bicyclists is not stopping at red lights, riding on the wrong side of the street, or not following the traffic laws.

Bicycle Crash Injuries

Injuries from bicycle crashes are most often to the limbs, and include fractures, abrasions, and lacerations. Fractures account for about 25 percent of bike crash injuries, and ****** injuries account for about one third of injuries. The most disabling and serious injuries are brain injuries. These are so severe because they can result in a permanent defect or disability. Head injuries are also more likely to be fatal.

What To Do When In a Bike-Car Crash

To the extent possible and practical to avoid further accidents or injuries after a bicycle crash, do the following:

*Keep completely still if you may be severely injured. Wait for medical help.

* Accept medical help, even if you do not feel severely injured.

* Wait for the police so an accident report can be filed with statements from witnesses, and the at-fault driver, and the crash scene investigated.

* Leave damaged property and equipment as it was until police arrive.

* Contact a personal injury lawyer who understands bicycling.

Bicycle Safety and Crash Prevention

Not surprisingly, helmets can protect again head injuries - both brain injuries and upper ****** injuries. Statistics have shown that of the 75 percent of bike riders who got severe brain injury in an accident were not wearing helmets. To provide proper protection, helmets must be fitted correctly.

Although helmets can protect against head injury, they do not protect from getting hit by cars! To help prevent personal injury, bicyclists must use common sense and remain alert when cycling on roads to avoid crashes with cars. Although drivers should be more attentive to the presence of bicyclists, the odds of injury favor the bicyclist. This is why it is so important to follow some basic common sense prevention guidelines which include:

* Follow the law - ride on the right side of road; stop at stop signs and red lights; use a headlight at night (also beneficial in the day).

* Avoid stopping in the blind spot of a car at a red light. You can be hit if it turns right and you go straight.

* Use a bell or horn to signal or alert drivers of your presence.

*Use a rear light and headlight, especially when it is dark outside.

* Use a mirror to glance at traffic behind, especially when approaching intersections.

* Be attentive and alert to the cars. Watch for left turning cars crossing in front that may not see you, and pay attention to parked cars for which a door may open.

*Do not ride very fast in case you need to stop abruptly.

* Avoid riding on sidewalks.

* Avoid busy streets, especially as a novice rider.

If you have been injured in a bike crash, you may be eligible for compensation. Contact an experienced bike accident attorney for more information on a potential bike injury claim.

When a person who goes on a bike tour dresses for weather conditions that are not likely to change in the course of a single day, it is not to difficult to choose proper clothes, but what would happen if you were on a more extended cycling expedition? Then, you should definitely know something about the way layered cycling jerseys help you protect the body in both cold and hot weather. With the modern technological advantages, bikers no longer have to wear too thick clothes that hinder movement and cause discomfort. Made of very soft and light fabric, cycling jerseys ensure a good air flow that leads to the elimination of moisture.

Experts in the field claim that the cycling jerseys that are worn directly on the skin absorb sweat and spread it evenly on their entire surface; unlike some other materials that accumulate and retain humidity, the synthetic compounds of modern tops allow immediate evaporation. For the base layering, short sleeved cycling jerseys are highly recommended, with easy to use zippers and anatomic shapes. Wool cycling jerseys used to be worn in the past as part of the mid-thermal layer, the one responsible for the preservation of the body warmth. Fleece materials have assumed this role in recent years as they don’t allow any exchange from the exterior to the interior.

On windy cold weather, thermal jackets are used as the outward protection layer; this is the one that comes over regular cycling jerseys, this layer usually includes wind stopping materials such as goretex or its older variant G-tex. Cycling jerseys are responsible for the body protection of both torso and arms; therefore it is extremely important that you feel very comfortable in such apparel items. Make sure that you always buy the right size prevent hinder motion easiness.

Though you may be inclined to use a multipurpose isolating jacket for a bike ride, you may be disappointed by the results since they cannot match normal cycling jerseys. The main problems lies not in the material quality or design, but in the size, since most such casual wear jackets are overbuilt for biking. Furthermore, cycling jackets also include reflecting items for safe bike riding in the evening or on foggy weather, which represent significant details that you’d miss when using a normal outfit. Have a look over the cycling apparel catalogs to make up your mind about which clothes to use in both cold and hot weather; most such promotional materials will also provide useful information on price and product features.
